A global force for change
INSPIRE - CONNECT - COMMIT - CHANGE
Kaleidoscope 2007 is a significant learning event that will bring together 300 participants aged 18-25 from around the globe. These young people have been chosen to undertake OIYP’s program between 2007 and 2010 during which they will be known as Action Partners.
This youth network will address social injustice and work towards creating action plans to bring positive, sustainable and equitable change to their communities and regions.
They will share eight days in October 2007 of learning and making connections to further strengthen their skills to create a global force for change.
During this time, they will not only express their identity but also learn and work together in a dynamic atmosphere. The aim is to deepen relationships, share values and enhance mutual understanding across economic, cultural, thematic and geographic boundaries.
These young people’s discussions will bring about ideas for creating positive futures in communities that are worlds apart. For most of these emerging leaders it will be the first time that they have left their home countries.
To enrich their learning experience, the eight days will be infused with activities bringing the event alive with music, art and theatre.
OIYP’s program is designed with consultation from previous Action Partners. The program will incorporate their input and learning needs. New participants will bring their personal experiences and skills to the program. We believe that they should lead the learning process and make use of each other as incredible resources and experts in their understandings of situations that they have come across. The sharing of this network is essential to any dialogue about positive global change.
A Global Force for change
By bringing together 300 diverse activists from each corner of the world, Kaleidoscope 2007 will provide a unique opportunity for building a dynamic energy within the youth network. This is only the beginning.
Over the next three years, participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding and make a sustained contribution to positive global change. Throughout this process, they will be supported by Oxfam Australia and our international networks and partners.
