Louise Baker
Louise’s experience working on development projects in The Philippines has fuelled her passion for cultural tolerance and understanding. Louise has worked as an Australian Youth Volunteer as well as representing Australia at the 5th APEC Future Leaders Forum. Louise has a vision of setting up a cultural exchange program between schools in Australia and overseas.
“I believe cultural exchange is a way to break down barriers and promote mutual understanding between people and cultures”.
Ultimately, Louise wants to set up a Sister School project between school communities in Canberra and the Asia-Pacific region. For Louise, Oxfam IYP2004 is the ideal opportunity to meet other people who can help her achieve her dream.
“Effective social change can only come about when there is support from a collective of people, and that collective can be developed through like-minded individuals who ultimately hold a shared vision”.
