Sylvie Ellsmore
A founder of the ReconciliACTION youth-network, Sylvie is working towards better relations between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
“The name ‘ReconciliACTION’ reflects the belief that reconciliation is about more than just words. It is about making changes through action and young people have an important part to play in determining these changes.”
Sylvie has worked in a range of social justice roles including as Policy Officer for the Youth Action and Policy Association, the peak youth body in NSW. She now focuses on the issues of Indigenous self-determination as she believes “it remains one of the greatest sources of injustice in Australian society”.
By coordinating a touring exhibition of poster art and photographs of historical events including the Tent Embassy and the 2000 reconciliation walk across the Harbour Bridge, Sylvie hopes to inspire young people across the nation to fight racism and get involved in the reconciliation movement.
